DURANGO CRAFTING GUIDE

Almost everything about the DURANGO is related to crafting. From basic tools and needs for survival, to weapons, cloths, armors, buildings etc. Crafting is where you will spend most of your time and learning the art of crafting will not only save a lot of time and resources but will also help you grow into a master craftsman.

The crafting system may confuse you at first due to its complexity, but once you notice that each crafting skills, materials, items, tools and products are all related to each other, then you will see the grand design of crafting.

THE BASICS
  • Everything is connected to Crafting. Skill Tree's like Gathering, Farming, Slaughter provides basic materials for the main crafting skills like Weapon/Tool Crafting, Cloth Crafting, Buildings and even combat and animal related skills.
  • Early ingame, the tutorial quest will teach you how to drink, gather and eat fruits, grab pebbles, craft your very 1st stone blade, cut twigs and trees. Remember this moment and embed it in your mind as this is the very foundation of crafting (Tier1).
  • You may acquire crafting materials through gathering, buying from the island market or do the scavenger way by looting dropped bags from dead players. Gathering materials is the fastest and most efficient way while buying from the island market may seem expensive unless you are making more out of your crafted items. Raptors nest on unstable island is the best spot for scavenging... iseedeadpeople.
HIDING Skill will help you avoid getting attacked by animals
  • You consume STAMINA points in each and every gathering/crafting you do. The stamina reduced is based on many factors like item level, tools, learned skills etc.
  • If you see a red wrench, that means you do not have the requirement(s) to gather that resources. Tap the icon and the required tool/skill/level will appear on top. You may also tap the "?" icon so that the system will automatically show the tools/skill needed.
  • Each item occupies a certain number of storage cells. Heavy, longer, bigger items like logs, bamboo, boulders will occupy more storage cells.
  • REMEMBER that most items in this game are based on their real world names and crafting uses the "GENERAL NAMES" for the required materials, thus you need to use your common sense especially when crafting items. For example: The materials needed to craft a Tier2 Tied One-Handed Hammer are CHUNK, STRAP and STICK.. YOU WILL NOT find any item with the name chunk, strap and stick, however you will do find Pebble, Reed Stalk and Bead Tree Bough which are basically the required materials to craft the hammer.
TIERS of Gathering & Crafting

Tier 1 Gathering: is basically gathering without the need/use of any tool. Gathering items like pebbles, common leaves, flowers and fruits just requires your bare hands. However, please take note that gathering without a tool/weapon equipped will cause a higher stamina reduction.
You can gather stalk, common fruits and leaves without using any tool, but it will consume more stamina

Tier 1 Crafting: is crafting without the use of another tool to gather or craft. The only tool i know that doesn't require another tool to gather its materials and craft is the Stone Blade.
the best tool for leveling up your other gathering/crafting skill trees as it only requires 6 Stamina to gather and craft barehanded.

Tier 2 Gathering: is gathering with the use of only 1 tool. For example: After crafting a Tier1 Stone Blade, now you can gather Bough from trees. However a Stone Blade won't be able to help you gather a Tier3 Log.

Tier 2 Crafting: is crafting with the use of only 1 tool to gather or craft. For Example: Crafting a Tier2 Tied One-Handed Hammer requires CHUNK which is
In case you miss this tip: REMEMBER that most items in this game are based on their real world names and crafting uses the "GENERAL NAMES" for the required materials, thus you need to use your common sense especially when crafting items.

Tier 3 Gathering: is gathering with the use of multiple tools. For example: After gathering a T1 pebble, then craft a T1 Stone Blade so that you can gather T2 Reed Stalk and Bough, used in crafting a T2 Tied One-Handed Hammer, only then will you be able to gather T3 Logs. The required number/quantity of materials and tools gets higher as the resource tier gets higher. T3+ Materials will require further more complicated and higher quality/level of materials. Crafting a Hunting cloths will require multiple T3+ Materials.

Tier 3 Crafting: is crafting with the use of multiple tools. One of the best example of multiple tier crafting is the Hunting Clothes. You need to learn Horn gathering skill from Slaughter Skill Tree, You also need to craft tools to cut the horns. Fabric is made by weaving Thread which is made from fibers, thus you need to learn how to gather fibers, craft thread, and weave Fabric and you also need to learn how to craft a weaving loom. But you're not done yet! You need to learn how to gather and dry leather and ofc how to craft Drying Rack. You also need a work bench and Needle tool with a minimum level of 10 to craft the Hunting Clothes... and crafting might fail too. So, it's either you buy all the materials and craft the end product (though you still need to craft of buy the workbench and needle) or spend skill points, time, resources and massive amount of stamina just to have a chance to craft 1 armor.

Since you reach this far, and i do hope this guide helped you in understanding the features of the game. Please indulge yourself in some tips that will help you flourish in DURANGO.

These are personal tips base on my gameplay and preference, so you might find a different path for yourself.

Tips:

  • I still don’t have enough information about the STATS ingame, that’s why I can’t really provide a complete guide about it. However there are but a few stats that seems to work the same way as the stats in other games. STR affects your attack and I knew this because grilled meat provide STR+ buff and my character damage increases when I have higher STR buff. Agility works the same as it provides dodge rate. Dexterity is for both accuracy and critical hits. Will tends to affect defense and block.
  • You will automatically acquire stats as you level up and you can acquire additional stats from food, medicine, buffs and titles.
  • You gain limited amounts of skill points upon leveling up. Plan your skill tree in advance.
  • If you plan to be a soldier and focus on melee combat, then i suggest you choose 2 handed sword master and craft your best 2 handed swords. 2 handed swords have very high damage and the mastery provides CRIT RATE. At level 10 my character crits for 200-300+ (with food buff STR+43 and 2handed Bone Knife) damage and you can easily solo level 10~ raptor (Take note, no S).
  • Animals in DURANGO are not just walking punching bags. They have behaviors like sleeping, eating, drinking etc. They also have this emoticon mood which may help you avoid agro attacks if you know the emoticon queue. The emoticon color also shows the aggression of an animal towards you and the character name color also indicate if the animal is below, within or above your level.
  • If the emoticon is white then the animal will not attack you on sight. Watch out for RED emoticons as these indicates aggressive state. You do not want to run along a raptors nest in the afternoon while they suffer bad mood due to severe heat.
  • If you plan to go the path of Archery then i suggest you choose BOW mastery and weapon/skills for maximum damage and Crossbow master and weapon/skills for maximum attack speed.
  •  You can definitely become a crafter without spending too much skill points with combat skill trees. In fact you can even do combat without weapons - Barehanded skills
  • The higher the tier of your weapon the better its stats. Always equip your best weapon especially when you plan to dive into battle.
  • If you plan to do combat then eat foods with +STR Buff like grilled meat but if you plan to just gather and craft then just eat fruits.
  • Speaking of meat, eating RAW meat will provide you with stamina and a nasty debuff! So always cook the meat before eating.
  • Since i mentioned cooking, cooking takes time and having multiple furnace will help you a lot in cooking multiple food in a short time. (it takes 5 minutes to stone plate BBQ, that’s a lot of time for just 1 BBQ meat! but if you have 4 furnace that’s like 1 BBQ meat per 1min~)
  • Foods with +STR buffs are the easiest to craft and they also sells fast!
  • The higher the level/quality of bonfire/furnace/tent the more fatigue it removes from your character.
  • Your character have 8 equipment slots. 2 slots are for weapon and 1 slot is for Bag, 6 are for cloths/armor, so try to equip as much cloths as you can.
  • Specific action requires a specific tool. If you want to cut a tree then a high quality knife won’t help you but a low quality axe will do. So always bring a knife, axe, hammer and shovel especially when you plan to gather materials.
  • Always bring a minimum of 5-10 food in your bag and collect bottles (plastic, wine bottles etc) to use in storing fresh water. Again, you can drink fresh water from the river but drinking sea water or salt water will do you nothing but harm.
  • You don’t really need to spend skill points in skills that increase the success rate, unless you want to catch a T-REX.
  • Gathering and processing materials sells fast in the island market.
  • Even if the Archery skill tree provides skill that will enable your character to maintain a distance between you and your target, there are certain animals that will reach you within a blink of an eye. Yep, Raptors!
  • I think i gave you enough reasons to be afraid of raptors, but do you know that grilled raptors meat taste awesome?.. Now I wonder, where did that awesome taste came from?
  • You don’t really need to spend a single skill point in Slaughter skill tree but if you love combat then spoils of war are not really bad.
  • Parry or Block skill will deflect an attack once successfully blocked. You just have to watch out for that yellow glow indicates that your target is about to attack you.
  • Always use your highest damaging attack AFTER you successfully disable/stun/knockdown your target for a maximum hard hit.
  • Learn all the skills in Recovery Skill branch ASAP!
  • Hunting outfit have the best stats for combat.
  • Different kinds of food processing/cooking will provide different types/quality of food that will provide different buffs.
  • Medicines will heal your HP, these are the HP pots in this game.
  • You will receive 25 golden flowers each day. Keep this coins for now as you need them later on.
Update: Version 1.2.1 - 1.2.1
  • There is an increase in the amount of skill points you receive after leveling up. More skill points means more ways to survive in DURANGO
  • You can fix your buildings and private estate in advance! Which means you can extent the duration a building have even before it gets depleted. Common private estate flags have around a week of duration so always watch out and repair in advance.
  • The exp gained from monsters past level 30 have been decreased, although this is still a fast way to gain exp, you should try doing something else than combat related activities.
  • The crop amount you get from farming is increased and applying fertilizing will further increase your gain.
  • Company transmission is also increased which means more quest and more rewards!
  • Fatique will decrease at a faster rate when you are inside the clan territory. More reasons to join/create a clan!
  • Coffee aroma buff bug is fixed! So grab your coffee now!

Last but not the least... In DURANGO, you can sleep while standing!
